President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Friday campaigned in Kayunga and Mukono districts, using the rallies to issue firm directives on land management, economic empowerment and political discipline.

He urged residents to support the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the forthcoming elections and that they should snub all the opposition contestants.

Addressing thousands of supporters during two separate rallies, Museveni warned against illegal land evictions, saying sitting tenants are protected by law and must not be chased off land.

He noted that most land conflicts are fuelled by ignorance and deliberate misinformation, yet the law clearly outlines the rights of tenants and landlords.

The President cautioned residents against buying land that is already occupied, saying selling such land without resolving tenancy issues is illegal and misleading.

Museveni said government has already compensated some landlords to secure tenants’ rights and pledged that the process would continue to ensure stability and harmony in communities.

He directed NRM leaders at all levels to sensitize wananchi about land laws and help resolve disputes peacefully.

As part of his campaign message, the President announced plans to establish an industrial park in Kayunga, provided adequate land is availed.

He said the project would accelerate industrialization, create jobs for the youth and increase local revenues.

Turning to household income growth, Museveni urged residents in both Kayunga and Mukono to fully embrace the Parish Development Model (PDM), describing it as a practical tool for wealth creation.

In Kayunga district, the NRM presidential flag bearer was gifted with a cow during the rally.

He explained that each parish receives Shs100 million annually, totaling Shs500 million over five years, to support agriculture, small businesses and other income-generating activities.

Museveni warned against misuse of the funds, saying accountability is critical for the success of the program and pledged to investigate complaints about mismanagement of funds.

The President also highlighted government investments in health infrastructure but expressed concern over continued theft of drugs from public facilities, calling on local leaders to protect public resources and ensure improved service delivery.

On politics, Museveni reminded voters that power belongs to the people through the ballot and urged them to elect leaders who support development and stability.

He cautioned against opposition politics that thrive on division and empty promises, calling on residents to remain focused on peace and progress.

First Lady Janet Museveni encouraged residents to actively participate in the elections and mobilize all eligible family members to vote.

NRM First National Vice Chairperson Alhaji Moses Kigongo and Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among echoed messages of unity, discipline and loyalty to the ruling party, crediting the NRM government for key infrastructure projects in the region.

The campaigns concluded with renewed calls for unity, peace and continued support for the NRM agenda in Kayunga and Mukono districts.
