The Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV, welcomed Algeria’s Ambassador to Uganda, Mourad Amokrane, to Igenge Palace in Jinja City, where both sides committed to expanding collaboration in education, culture, agriculture, health, and trade.
During the meeting, the Kyabazinga praised Algeria’s continued support to Ugandans, particularly through university scholarship opportunities, and urged broader partnerships that would directly benefit the people of Busoga. He highlighted the potential for stronger cooperation in cultural exchange programs, academic partnerships, and language training, especially in French, to equip young people in the region with skills for global engagement.
He further emphasized the importance of multilingualism, noting that improved language abilities would allow the Basoga to take part more actively in international affairs and opportunities.

Ambassador Amokrane commended the cultural richness of Busoga, drawing comparisons with Algeria’s own diverse heritage and traditions. He also congratulated Uganda on what he described as the successful conduct of its recent general elections and reaffirmed Algeria’s dedication to promoting peace, stability, and development across the region.
Uganda’s Ambassador to Algeria, Julius Joshua Kivuna, spoke of his personal ties to Busoga and pledged to help turn the discussions into practical cooperation between the Kingdom of Busoga and Algeria. He noted that both sides share many areas of mutual interest and would work to identify priority sectors for collaboration.
The Algerian Ambassador was accompanied by his deputy, Habib Chabbi, along with Kivuna and Michael Bulyenali. On arrival at the palace, the delegation was received by Busoga Kingdom Permanent Secretary Godfrey Ssajjabi Samanya and State Minister of Finance Ivan Kiirya.
Other attendees included Martin Tibalira Musomesa and Robinah, an advisor to the Kingdom. The visit concluded with an exchange of gifts between the Kyabazinga and Ambassador Amokrane inside the palace.
