The Uganda Police Force (UPF) announced a nationwide recruitment drive for 100,000 Election Special Police Constables (SPCs) on a three-month contractual basis ahead of the forthcoming general elections. According to ACP Kituma Rusoke Moses, Police spokesperson, the temporary recruits will undergo one month of intensive training before deployment to their respective home districts, where they will support the force in ensuring peaceful and secure electoral processes.

Applicants must be Ugandan citizens in possession of a valid National Identification Card, and aged 18 years or older. The minimum academic qualification is a Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) certificate, verified by a results slip. Candidates are required to have no criminal record, demonstrate good communication skills, and be physically fit to endure long working hours. Experience in voluntary service will be considered an added advantage. Interested individuals are required to submit a handwritten application addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The application must include photocopies of academic documents, a National ID, and a recent passport-sized photograph. Applicants must also present recommendation letters from their Local Council I (LC I), Local Council III (LC III), and the area GISO (Gombolola Internal Security Officer). All documents should be delivered to the District or Divisional Police Headquarters for processing. The deadline for submission of applications is 1st November 2025.
The Uganda Police issued a strong warning to the public against impersonators and fraudsters taking advantage of the recruitment exercise. In a recent incident, Police in Kyotera District arrested Amwine Mike, a man who had been impersonating the District Police Commander (DPC) and collecting UGX 50,000 from unsuspecting applicants under the guise of facilitating recruitment. The suspect was apprehended at Kasambya Cell, Kyotera Town Council, and several exhibits were recovered as evidence.
Police emphasized that the recruitment process is free of charge and that any form of bribery, impersonation, or submission of forged documents will attract legal action. The Force noted that a list of shortlisted candidates will be published after the review process and encouraged all eligible applicants to apply promptly and adhere to the stated requirements and deadlines.“We encourage all interested Ugandans to take this opportunity seriously, follow the right procedures, and beware of conmen. The recruitment process is free and merit-based,” the statement concluded.
