On January 30, 2026, the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) officially confirmed Eng. Richard Matsiko as its substantive Chief Executive Officer.
- He had been serving in an acting capacity since July 2025, following the resignation of the previous CEO, Joshua Karamagi.
- The UETCL Board of Directors approved the permanent appointment.
- Matsiko, an electrical engineer with over 30–35 years of experience in Uganda’s power sector (starting as a trainee in the early 1990s), is now tasked with leading the company through its Corporate Strategic Plan 2025–2030, aiming to position UETCL as a leading electricity transmission utility in Eastern Africa.
