Nearly two weeks after Senegal’s victory over Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 final, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Jury issued multiple sanctions for unsportsmanlike conduct, fair play violations, and damage to football’s image.
Senegal National Team Sanctions

Coach Pape Bouna Thiaw: 5-match suspension + $100,000 fine.

Player Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye: 2-match ban for conduct toward Congolese referee Jean-Jacques Ndala.

Player Ismaïla Sarr: 2-match ban for similar conduct toward the referee.

Senegalese Football Federation: $300,000 fine for fan misbehavior; additional $300,000 for player/staff conduct; $15,000 for five players receiving warnings.
Morocco National Team Sanctions

Player Achraf Hakimi: 2-match suspension (one deferred for 1 year).

Player Ismaël Saibari: 3-match suspension + $100,000 fine.

Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF): $200,000 fine for ball boys’ inappropriate behavior; $15,000 fine for fans using lasers.
CAF also cited Morocco for invading the VAR area and obstructing the referee, violating articles 82 and 83 of the Disciplinary Code.
